Hi, thanks for having me.
The most important thing about writing in the romance genre is that you have to treat it like a meeting between two soul mates. They can be flawed. They can be a mess. They can be scared of opening their hearts and falling in love. But they are soul mates. They can’t just be two people who get together and waste time. Otherwise the readers won’t buy into the story or the characters. Sell your audience on the love developing between the two. That’s the first part. The second part is making sure it’s not too easy. Have some barriers pop up that stop them from living happily ever after right away. That’ll make the readers become even more invested in them. The readers will root for them. Then, when the payoff finally happens, the readers will experience sheer joy. They’ll be over the moon that you decided to give them a happy ending. And speaking of happy endings, that’s the third part of the equation. Reward your readers. Don’t break their hearts. A few stories are well served ending in tragedy, like some of Shakespeare’s work, but most stories suffer if there isn’t a happy ending. So play the odds and do the right thing. Have a happily ever after ending. Trust me, you’ll feel prouder of a HEA ending than you will of a depressing ending.
As for the characters themselves, if you want you can make your female lead someone who is shy, inexperienced, and timid. But don’t make her a doormat who lets the male character treat her like dirt. And similarly, you can make your male lead detached and arrogant, but don’t make him a complete jerk. And please don’t make him physically and emotionally abusive. Once your readers stop rooting for your lead characters to get together, that’s it. You’re done. You’ll never get their interest and support back again. It’s lost forever. But it’s all up to you. You’re the creator of this world. Every decision the characters make is up to you. That’s great power. And with great power comes great responsibility. When readers decide to read your book, they’re putting their emotions in your hands. You can make them smile, or you can rip their hearts out. So do the right thing. Win them over. Make both leads people who the readers will love. As the characters fall for each other, the readers will fall for them, both as individuals, and as a couple.
And that brings us to the sex. If you’re writing in the New Adult Romance genre, like I am, sex is an important part of the book. But sex isn’t the main ingredient. Love and romance are the main ingredients. The sex is a result of that love and romance. And the more your characters fall in love, the hotter the sex will be.
These are the rules I’m following for my own novel, “Mr. Prescott.” So to all of you aspiring romance writers, I wish you the best. Stay focused. Stay energized. And stay passionate. Good luck.

I’m the Mayor of London.
I’ve come to New York purely on business. The usual boring meetings with other politicians.
I don’t expect my time here to be exciting in the slightest.
But who’s that woman I met this morning? No, girl. That would be a more accurate term for her.
She’s only twenty-one years old. A college student. Someone who shouldn’t get mixed up with a guy like me.
But I can’t get her out of my mind. Every single time I close my eyes, I see her face.
How can someone I just met do this to me? That’s the kind of stuff that happens in movies. Not real life.
I know this will be a dangerous risk for me, but I can’t help it. I want her. I need her.
And whatever it may do to my career, I won’t stop until I have her.
Mr. Prescott is a standalone New Adult Romance novel told entirely from the point of view of the male lead.
I’m a guy who likes to cut right to the chase, so here we go: I’m a male author of Romance/Erotica novels that are told entirely from the POV of the male protagonist. If you enjoy happy endings and steamy tales about people falling in love quickly, my stories are for you.
